Freeze on "Creating ATA IOGroup" in VirtualBox

Topics: Using Cosmos (Developing your own OS, projects, etc)
Jul 24, 2015 at 9:12 PM
Steps followed:

1) Install latest Cosmos OS release from Github.
2a) Create OS project.
2b) Build OS project.
3) Have trouble finding ISO.
4) Re-install Cosmos OS release as in step 1).
5a) Re-link .dlls: "Cosmos.Common", ".Core", ".HAL", "*.System" to OS kernel project.
5b) Re-link .dlls: "Cosmos.Core.Plugs", ".Debug.Kernel", ".System.Plugs" to OS boot project.
5c) Mess around with different .Net Framework levels.
6) Finally find .iso.
7) Build .iso again just to make sure.
8) In between all this, mess with different storage settings for the virtual machine I set up in VirtualBox for the OS, finally setting it to one SATA CD-ROM.
9) Load the .iso into the VirtualBox virtual CD-ROM. Finally.
10) Boot the Virtual Machine.

It loads till I see this:
Creating ATA IOGroup
Creating ATA IOGroup
At which point, it just sits there spinning the CPU at max.

We still have some bug with ATA loading on real hardware.
We have it logged somewhere, but are first focussing on working on virtual hardware (VMware and bochs currently)

Thanks. I'm using VirtualBox, so I guess the hardware emulation is different enough to trigger that problem.

Yes. May have to do with SATA controllers etc...
