DEVKIT COSMOS

Jul 19, 2010 at 12:43 AM
I dont think you understand what is going on.  I have download 17 of your devkits and NONE of them have the Cosmos.Flat.sln.  I don't have the money to buy C# professional, I'm only 14.  I would really like to make a gui implementing OS which I have with other source codes, Your probably wondering why I am even using cosmos if I have made things much better than cosmos's greatest scripters can even comprehend.  Well the reason is, I want to learn C#, thats the only reason i'm using your product.  You are probably thinking that I am an idiot and I am lieing but, I am not!  To get to the point, I would like to have the Cosmos.Flat.sln and I would like to know how to use this Devkit.  Please email me back ASAP, I do have a deadline for this OS, August 25, Yes that is a VERY short time but I can do it, if...you can explain how to set up the Devkit and tell me were to find the Cosmos.Flat.sln.  I do not have Visual Studio Express, I only have Visual Basic, C++, and C# Express Edition.

The actual target audience of cosmos is the High performance computing and embedded world (at least for quite a while). This is not done by individuals, but by project groups/companies. For such companies, it's doable to buy Visual Studio Standard.

We focus on the non-express editions of visual studio, as that way we can provide a much better development experience. We do have some ideas on how to support the express users, but that will be post-MS5.

We would love to support express. However Express cannot support many of the features we are currently implementing and we had to make a choice. Move forward, or stay behind. We chose to move forward (integrated debugger, etc). We are evaluating how we might support express in the future, but whatever is offered likely will be a lesser experience, and likely will be up to a team of express users to support.

Thank you for the information.  I have already figured out how to use the devkit with express edition, It really isn't that hard, and also I can use userkit as well.  I figure out that you can import Devkit references to a CosmosBoot in user kit.
Thank you for your response,

This is not possible: you're likely to use the old compiler (userkit one), and builder etc: as those are completely changed. This means at some point you'll get major issues.
